Undergraduate students from University Park and Penn State campuses presented their research on Wednesday 6 April 2016 at Penn State’s annual Undergraduate Exhibition. One participant was Nick Vasko, SCRiM student, who presented a poster on “Modeling and Inference for Precipitation Times Series”.

“Precipitation is a very important component of climate change as it can affect the risk of drought and the risk of flooding,” said Vasko. “Modeling precipitation is challenging. We consider times series methods that can model zero-inflated, heavy tailed time series data.” Nick Vasko is currently being advised by SCRiM researcher, Dr. Murali Haran.
